If you want to know why I love Leeds so much then just read on…..

Should you wish to take a browse back on this site to the articles relating to the City Centre MONOPOLY Takeover during the summer holidays, you will see the efforts put in by the parties concerned, including LeedsBID (Business Improvement District), Welcome To Leeds and Chapter81, with the assistance of Leeds City Council. The results have been phenomenal.

LeedsBID is a not-for-profit, non-political organisation working to raise the profile of the city, making things happen to the benefit of all who live, work or visit. It is the largest BID outside London bringing an annual investment of £2.5 million to Leeds city centre through its projects, events and activities. https://www.leedsbid.co.uk/

Welcome To Leeds, is the official Leeds guide and covers the wider story. It showcases, supports and celebrates the world-class events, organisations and people in Leeds through storytelling, events, podcasts, features, films and more. https://welcometoleeds.co.uk/

In order to stage the MONOPOLY Takeover, there obviously had to be close liaison with Hasbro, the manufacturers of the game, and the owners of the trademarks, copyrights etc. The result was that, during the five weeks of its operation, over half a million people joined in the fun, bringing, not only an 8-10% increase in footfall to the city, but also £6.6 million of spending.

Hasbro have been so impressed by the idea, execution and popularity of the event that they have donated 800 MONOPOLY games to be distributed throughout the city. They are being given to Leeds Hospitals Charity, a partner of Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and Child Friendly Leeds, a charity working with over 150 schools and other learning establishments.

Any Leeds Schools interested in claiming free games please contact leeds.libraries@leeds.gov.uk and quote your nearest community hub and library https://libraries.leeds.gov.uk/libraries which will be in touch to arrange delivery.

That is what I love about Leeds. When they do something they do it right!
